Matt's Biography
Matt

On September the 10th, 1975 at Vancouver General Hospital , at exactly 3:15pm , one of the greatest performing juggernauts was born, a few hours later, so was Matt Briard . Despite numerous attempts to leave him there and one offer to trade him for a hospital gown and monogrammed bedpan, Matt's grateful parents took him home relieved that the authorities weren't pressing any charges.

Matthew's love affair with performing started at a very young age. Music and laughter always filled the house, and his parents would often don different costumes and personalities for little performances late at night in their bedroom not knowing Matt was watching. The major turning point in the musical aspect of his life came at the age of 8, when his father brought home a box of old children's albums "Sesame Street", "Electric Company" etc, amid the collection of records was Kiss's Destroyer album. Curious about the funny looking guy with the tongue, Matt put it on loud, very loud, so loud his mother could hear it loud, right between her eyes. Storming upstairs came Matt's mother and demanded he turns down that crap or else he'd get a good smack. It's loud she yelled much too loud and Matt could tell there'd be no compromise. To this day when his mother hears the opening strands of "Detroit Rock City" she gets a twitch in her right eye, and so the "Rock Star" in training began!

Throughout his younger years Matt continued to sing everything from pop to rock, show tunes to folk. As time went by Matt pursued performing more seriously, he took courses, did shows, watched and learned. After high school Matt moved to L.A. to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. With that under his belt and his last strands of innocence and ignorance stripped away he came home. Matt began working for bigger and better things, a new band, a lead role both which came to fruition. When Matt joined the band "Bondage Co." it served as an excellent tool to get to the next level, giving him good experience and exposure. Although when Matt left "Bondage Co." he was left somewhat jaded with the local Vancouver scene.

In his own personal opinion Matt thought himself a far better singer than 90% of them out there! He came to realize it's not how good you are but, who you know! He understood the work and dedication it takes, but he knew he had to find others that also understood. Then he met the boys in VICIOUS CIRCLE!
